English as a Second Language Endorsement

The ESL endorsement and the Bilingual endorsement programs are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Graduates of either (or both!) programs are eligible to apply for the endorsement to be added to their active Illinois teaching license.

Candidates must complete 100 hours of internship which are incorporated into the course work and built into the program. ISBE does not currently require content test in these endorsement areas for Illinois entitlement.

Grading Policy

Passing at the graduate level is considered a B or higher. A maximum of 8 hours of C (2.0) is applicable, provided that a minimum GPA of 3.0 is reached at the time of program completion and an approved student petition is on file in the Office of Records and Registration. Grades of C- or lower are not accepted.
