Writing and Publishing Minor
The Writing and Publishing minor gives students the opportunity to study and develop skills in writing alongside exploring various professional and community publishing processes and industries.
The minor is designed for both students looking to hone their craft in creative writing genres including poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, as well as students interested in developing writing skills to advance their career, reach a public audience, and impact their communities. In this minor, students can expect to explore writing and publishing across multiple platforms, as well as theories, ideas, and systems that shape writing and publishing values and conventions.
Students will develop skills in reading and analyzing diverse texts, writing in multiple genres, editing, publishing, and providing collaborative feedback. Alongside this skill development, students will explore and challenge societal, cultural, and historical power structures and their impact on writing and publishing values.
