*Contact information for two college science instructors (preferably one biology and one chemistry) for use as references

Additional Admission Criterion:

*Applicants and their physicians should assure that the applicant can perform the Essential Functions, listed on the MLS website and in the MLS Student Handbook.

*Selection is made on a competitive basis, due to limited program capacity; admission to UIS does not guarantee admission to the Medical Laboratory Science program
*90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours of lower-division courses

*UIS gen ed requirements

*Two semesters of general chemistry

*One semester of organic chemistry

*Two semesters of biological sciences, with at least one semester of human physiology or anatomy and physiology

*One semester of statistics or higher mathematics

*One semester of microbiology with lab (in addition to the two biological science courses listed above)

*One course in genetics and a second semester of organic chemistry recommended
