Master of Arts in Education
The M.A. in Education is designed specifically for educators who wish to assume leadership roles within and beyond the classroom. With this degree, students can customize a program of study or add a certificate or endorsement in one of many areas: Learning Behavior Specialist 1, English as a Second Language, PK-12 Education Technology Specialist, Legal Aspects of Education, Higher Education Online Pedagogy, and Leadership and Learning.
The master’s degree requires the completion of 40 semester credit hours of course work.
Advising is conducted by the M.A. in Education Coordinator in consultation with the department chair. Initial advising must be completed by the end of the student’s first semester. The M.A. in Education Coordinator assists students in planning their program of study and refers students to the Career Development Center at www.uis.edu/career for career planning.
If EDL 586 is not completed during initial enrollment, students must register for EDL 598 for zero credit hours (one billable hour) during all fall and spring semesters until the project is completed.
